From March 23rd to April 4th 2026, our 17 SESSFA schools are again joining together to raise $600,000 during our 6th annual Move-a-Thon fundraising drive. More than 6,700 Southeast Seattle elementary and middle school students get active, and each SESSFA school gets moving with its own Move-a-Thon fundraising event!
What does the Move-a-Thon look like? It's different for every school, but all of them involve fun movement-based activity, music, and healthy snacks. Many schools invite community partners in to teach an activity like double dutch jump rope or capoeira or yoga positions. One elementary school hosts a sparkly all-family dance party, another school has students run laps around the field with music and teachers and volunteers cheering them on, and another school sets up a bunch of challenge stations that students cycle through. One of our middle schools does a neighborhood cleanup!
The other part of the Move-a-Thon is the FUNDRAISING part. Kids participate in the Move-a-Thon, and their community donates to support them. Over half of the donations we receive come from individual donors like you. With an outpouring of support from donors and sponsors within and beyond our South Seattle neighborhoods, our 17 SESSFA schools know that raising $600,000 is an achievable goal. We're deeply grateful to all who support and amplify this effort—every dollar makes a meaningful difference.
